Sri Lanka Embassy Marks National Integration and Reconciliation Week
The Sri Lanka Embassy in the Republic of Korea held a special programme at the Embassy on Monday 9 January 2017 to mark the launch of the National Integration and Reconciliation Week in Sri Lanka, as well as the completion of two years in office of President Maithripala Sirisena.
The proposal by President Maithripala Sirisena, in his capacity as the Minister of National Integration and Reconciliation, to declare the week from 08 to 14 January every year, as the national integration and reconciliation week, was approved by the Cabinet of Ministers on 21 December 2016.
The reading of the Pledge for National Integration and Reconciliation was carried out collectively by the staff of the Embassy in Sinhala and Tamil languages.
Ambassador Manisha Gunasekera addressed the staff reiterating the importance of national integration and reconciliation for every citizen of Sri Lanka, in consonance with the multi-ethnic, multi-religious and multi-cultural composition of the country.
