VESAK DAY CELEBRATED AT THE SRI LANKA EMBASSY IN SEOUL
A Dhamma Sermon was held at the premises of the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Seoul on 28th May 2024 to mark the day of "Vesak" in commemoration of the birth, enlightenment and passing away of the Lord Buddha. The Embassy was colourfully decorated with lanterns and Buddhist flags, in celebration of this sacred day.
Venerable Thalgamuwe Dhammakitti thero, Chief Incumbent of the Korea Sri Lanka Mahaviharaya delivering the sermon, emphasized the relevance of the Buddha's teachings to modern life. He also highlighted the important role Sri Lanka has played since ancient times in preserving and promoting Buddhism.
The event also commemorated the 25th Anniversary of the adoption of the United Nations General Assembly Resolution 54/115, titled 'International Recognition of the Day of Vesak at United Nations Headquarters and other United Nations Office', which was initiated by Sri Lanka.
The Ambassador and staff of the Embassy, together with their families, participated at this event.
