Ambassador participates in Annual EPS Meeting chaired by the Korean Minister
of Employment and Labour
Sri Lanka’s Ambassador to the Republic of Korea Manisha Gunasekera participated
in the ‘2018 Annual Meeting with Ambassadors of EPS Sending Countries’ hosted
by the Ministry of Employment and Labour of the Republic of Korea in Seoul on
29 March 2018. Ambassador Gunasekera briefed the forum on best practices
of the Sri Lankan Government and measures taken to reduce illegal stay and change
of workplace by employees, issues related to fishery sector employees and
proposals to enhance the protection and welfare of Sri Lankan employees in
Korea. The meeting was chaired by the Korean Minister of Employment and Labour
Kim Young-joo, and was attended by the Deputy Minister
for Planning and Coordination Park Hwa-jin, senior officials of the Ministry of
Employment and Labour, as well as Ambassadors of 15 sending countries. The Ambassador
of Sri Lanka was assisted by Counsellor/Employment and Welfare Jagath
Batugedara who also participated in the meeting.
