AMBASSADOR DR. MENDIS AND THE STAFF OF THE EMBASSY MEET WITH SRI LANKAN COMMUNITY DOMICILED IN THE REPUBLIC OF KOREA
The Ambassador of Sri Lanka to the Republic of Korea Dr. A. Saj U. Mendis and the staff of the Embassy met with the Sri Lankan community based in the Republic of Korea including Buddhist Clergy, Businessmen, Business Promotion Officers of leading State and Private Banks of Sri Lanka and Officers from the Foreign Migrants’ Support Centres, at the Embassy premises on 14th December 2019. Welcoming the gathering, Ambassador Dr. Mendis appreciated their continued assistance and cooperation rendered to the Embassy to strengthen, deepen and elevate bilateral relations between Sri Lanka and the Republic of Korea as the entities of public diplomacy. Ambassador Dr. Mendis emphasized the Sri Lankan expatriate community to assist the Embassy in promotion of employment opportunities for Sri Lankan nationals particularly in the category of semi-skilled and skilled; exports from Sri Lanka to Korea; tourism from Korea to Sri Lanka; investments & FDI and transfer of technology and enhancement of the image & profile of the country, amongst others.
Around forty Sri Lankans, mostly community leaders, based in the Republic of Korea attended the meeting and shared their ideas and views with the Ambassador and the officers of the Mission since this was the first official meeting of the Ambassador Dr. Mendis with the community leaders of Sri Lanka in the Republic of Korea.
