Sri Lanka’s Ambassador thanks the Republic of Korea for the employment opportunities afforded to Sri Lankans
The Ambassador of Sri Lanka to the Republic of Korea, Savitri I Panabokke, participated at the 2023 Employment Permit System (EPS) Conference held in Busan, Republic of Korea on 9th August 2023.
The annual EPS Conference serves as an important platform for discussion on migrant labour matters between the Ministry of Employment and Labour, the Human Resources Development Service of Korea and the Embassies of the 16 EPS labour sending countries.
Speaking during the exchange of views on the EPS, Ambassador Panabokke thanked the Republic of Korea for the employment opportunities afforded to Sri Lankans. She also highlighted that foreign migrant workers would also benefit from awareness creation on important matters such as new policies relating to their employment. During the Conference, the Ambassador also had the opportunity to meet with the Minister of Employment and Labour of the Republic of Korea Lee Jung-sik and Mayor of Busan Park Heong-joon.
One of the highlights of this year’s conference was the awarding of the prize for the best migrant worker in the Republic of Korea by Minister of Employment and Labour Lee Joon Sik to Mr. Chamara Chandimal, a migrant worker from Sri Lanka.
The three day EPS Conference concludes on Friday, 11th August 2023.
