Ambassador calls on the Korean Minister of Gender Equality and Family Hon. Kang Eun-hee

 


Sri Lanka’s Ambassador to the Republic of Korea Manisha Gunasekera called on the Korean Minister of Gender Equality and Family Kang Eun-hee, at the latter’s office in Seoul on Thursday 8 December 2016.  

 

Elaborating on the significant contribution of women to the development process in Sri Lanka, The Ambassador briefed Minister Kang on the policy of the Government as well as on action underway to achieve the empowerment of women and the protection of children.  The Ambassador also expressed her appreciation for the support extended by the Korean Government, including through KOICA, to programmes related to training women in leadership at all levels. 

 

Minister Kang spoke about South Korea’s cooperation with Sri Lanka in achieving gender equality, and commended Sri Lanka for the successful stewardship of the ongoing reconciliation process, including with a focus on the inclusion of and mainstreaming women.  The Minister also appreciated the positive role of women Ambassadors in the Republic of Korea. 

 

Assistant Minister /Planning and Coordination of the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family Lee Kisoon was also associated with the meeting, among others.
