Sri Lankan Students Association – Korea Promotes Sri Lankan Heritage in the Republic of Korea at the Busan International Student Festival 2026

 

The Sri Lankan Students Association – Korea (SLSA-Korea) proudly represented Sri Lanka at the Busan International Student Festival 2026, held on 27 June 2026 at the Busan Asiad Main Stadium (Supplementary Stadium) in the Republic of Korea. Through its exhibition at Booths B05 and B06, the association successfully showcased Sri Lanka’s rich cultural heritage, traditions, and national identity to a diverse international audience in the Republic of Korea, reinforcing the values of cultural diplomacy and people-to-people exchange.

 

As one of the participating international student organizations, SLSA-Korea curated an engaging cultural pavilion that highlighted the unique customs, traditions, and artistic heritage of Sri Lanka. The exhibition attracted a large number of visitors, including citizens of the Republic of Korea, international students, academics, and families, providing them with an opportunity to explore and appreciate Sri Lanka’s vibrant cultural legacy through a range of interactive and educational experiences.

 

The pavilion featured traditional Sri Lankan attire, including the elegant Osariya and the traditional Tamil Saree, enabling visitors to gain a deeper understanding of Sri Lanka’s diverse cultural traditions and traditional clothing. In addition, authentic Sri Lankan sculptures and traditional handcrafted masks were displayed, illustrating the nation’s rich artistic heritage, performing arts, and centuries-old cultural practices.

 

To further enhance visitor engagement, SLSA-Korea organized several interactive cultural activities. Visitors were invited to color the Sri Lankan national flag, learn to write their names in the Sinhala language, and participate in an AI-powered cultural game inspired by a traditional Sri Lankan game. These activities provided an enjoyable and educational introduction to Sri Lankan culture while encouraging meaningful interaction between visitors and the student volunteers.

 

The pavilion also featured visually captivating cultural displays that became a popular attraction for photography, allowing visitors to create lasting memories while learning about Sri Lanka’s history, traditions, and cultural diversity. The warm hospitality extended by the volunteers further reflected the friendliness, generosity, and welcoming spirit of the Sri Lankan people.
