Embassy of Sri Lanka Meets the Executive Committee of the Sri Lankan Students’ Association in the Republic of Korea

 

Ambassador M. K. Pathmanaathan met the newly appointed Executive Committee of the Sri Lankan Students’ Association (SLSA) in the Republic of Korea on 8 January 2026 at the Embassy premises.

The meeting was attended by Chandima Abeyrathna, Minister (Commercial) and representatives of the Sri Lankan student Association, including Tharindu Arumapperuma (President), Sandun Dilshan (Vice President), Randika Subashini (Secretary), Thathsara Nanayakkara (Assistant Secretary), and Dilshan Adhikari, Former President of SLSA (2010).

During the discussion, the Executive Committee briefed the Embassy on the Association’s organizational structure, ongoing activities, and its vision for representing Sri Lankan students in Korea, including its core objective of uplifting Sri Lanka’s reputation in Korea. Key areas of discussion included strengthening student engagement on scholarship-related matters, improving information exchange, and enhancing Embassy support for student participation in cultural and community initiatives organized by the Embassy.

The meeting also addressed the importance of recognizing outstanding student achievements, strengthening student representation at official platforms, aligning SLSA activities with the Embassy’s vision, and establishing regular communication and collaboration between the Embassy and the Association.

As a Patron of the Association, the Ambassador provided guidance to the new Executive Committee and emphasized the importance of unity, responsibility, and constructive engagement in serving the Sri Lankan student community and Sri Lanka’s interest in general.

Further, the Ambassador stated that the matters discussed would be reviewed positively through appropriate channels. The Ambassador reaffirmed the Embassy’s commitment to maintaining regular communication with the Sri Lankan Students’ Association and to exploring avenues for cooperation, in accordance with established procedures, for the benefit of Sri Lankan students in the Republic of Korea.
